How does God view people who take advantage of the poor and the defenseless?
For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
~ Dt 15:6-8
Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
~ Dt 24:14
The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
~ Ps 10:2
Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
~ Ps 109:6-16
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
~ Isa 10:1-2
How much more should God judge someone who uses God’s name lightly to promote their illegitimate business? You know, to “take the name of the LORD thy God in vain”? “For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain” (Ex 20:7).
I used to have a lot of respect for the Better Business Bureau. These days, though, companies just pay a “fee” to be a “member” of the BBB. <sarcasm>No conflict of interest there, huh?</sarcasm>
US Fidelis has a halo over its name. It claims to be “a faith-based company”. Yet, the 23 April 2009 Today show featured this company as getting an “F” from the BBB, no doubt! They are under investigation for using “deceptive practices” in 40 states. The employees are trained to lie to customers to appear to be from the automotive manufacturer.
With people losing jobs, in debt over their heads and struggling to make ends meet, many are becoming easy prey for people who will take their money from them and make all sorts of promises about getting out of debt by tapping into “unknown” sources of money. Why would a “Christian” radio station allow such scum on its airwaves?
Dave Burke of Real Talk radio makes such promises. Apparently, according to a Ripoff Report, he is in cahoots with VIP Credit as well. As Jillita Horton writes in “Dave Burke Real Talk Complaints About Debt Elimination Program”, it all amounts to a shell game. You pay them $2000 for the advice of either borrowing equity from your home or borrowing from your 401k. Here is another “Christian” bozo that gets an F on their BBB report!
Folks, just because someone displays a fish in their window or a halo over their name or advertizes on a Christian radio station, don’t fall for these scammers!
Being a Christian does not mean being gullible!
