Labor Day in the US was created to set aside time to reflect upon the sacrifice of men and women to force recognition that laborers have rights just as anyone else does. Labor fought hard to win the right to be treated fairly in the marketplace. For whatever labor unions represent to you today, they were quite different things then. They had the courage to stand up for their convictions.
When I look around today, I really wonder how many would stand up for their convictions today. Indeed, I sometimes wonder how many really have any convictions. It seems that, in the US at least, our faith, money and time go to rather frivolous pursuits in the bigger picture.
As Christians, we need to have convictions. Not just any convictions, but those based upon the Bible. There will come a time when all real Christians will be tested on those convictions. We have already seen how quickly people can fall away, and that scenario wasn’t even half as bad as what it will be like!
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
~ Rev 12:17
Do you stand ready?
