NIV to be Revised

I heard on the radio and read on Yahoo! News that the “Best-selling Bible to undergo revision”. It will replace the more controversial Today’s New International Version (TNIV).

Languages are not solid objects, and words change their meanings over time, so it isn’t unusual for a translation to be revised. However, the previous attempt to do so, via the TNIV, resulted in a backlash of criticism due to perceived political correctness. The Southern Baptists in particular stated it went “beyond acceptable translation standards.”

The expected publishing is scheduled for 2011.

Of course, the potential controversy doesn’t matter if Jesus returns in 2011 as Harold Camping believes [who is not in the Word of Faith movement, and I obviously had him confused with someone else in an earlier post].
