Some of the comments about helping Haiti frankly aren’t worth the electrons forming them. It seems that some few believe that since they have always been a poor country unable to raise themselves up, they are not worthy of help.
And, then, there comes MLK Day.
King had a dream. You know what? So does God. God has a dream that one day all of His creation will live in harmony with His will and with each other. Indeed, He is no respecter of persons.
Who is my neighbor? Jesus all but told the Pharisee it was the low-life, disgusting, filthy and unclean Samaritan. Our postmodern minds have difficulty even grasping the shockwaves Jesus sent through them when He gave this parable.
Even the stranger was not to be afflicted in the Promised Land. Israel was told to remember they were once foreigners in a strange land.
24God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; (Acts 17:24-26, King James Version)
