I’ve been busy working (I’m not complaining about that, mind you), so I haven’t seen any of the webcasts yesterday or today. So, imagine my disappointment when I check all the official sources and even FB, and I see nothing on the name of the new organization. However, James Malm says it’s “pofficially approved” that the Church of God – a Worldwide Association remains as the name.
While writing this, I learned that 78 elders were in favor of the name. I’m not sure if that is from a total of 112 or 118, though. Either way, it wasn’t a slim margin, which is a good thing these days.
Now we just got to figure out the official initials (COG-WA? COGwWA? COG, aWA?). ;->
Thats my understand too, I've listened to the webcasts, truly seems the right spirit is with them as they begin to build.
One has to find it amusing that a lot of the people are saying that even though the Church's Of God are split they are still one in belief. Maybe in belief but not in spirit. I remember a day when the "worldly churches" as they were known, got condemned for that kind of reasoning. Amazing how the rules can change when one finds them self in their own condemnation.
We'll see if it turns into the Church of God Wrestling Alliance. 🙂
I just go with COGWA myself. Easy to pronounce, even!
Someone mentioned that COGAWA sounded American Indian. 🙂
Andrew, you would pick a church because it's easy to pronounce the name? (shaking head in amusement)
No no, that was a direct response to John's comment of "Now we just got to figure out the official initials (COG-WA? COGwWA? COG, aWA?)."
We're talking the way to abbreviate it and how I just go with that one, and its easy to pronounce even. That should definitely be cleared up.
I would have gone with COGawa, but most people are using COGWA, so COGWA is probably best. It is short and simple, and matches the domain name.
I suppose I wouldn't want one that was difficult to pronounce, or even one that was difficult to remember. After all, who can remember Church of God of America Based on Scripture …? I can't, and I wrote an article about it!
It should be something people can relate to and give glory to God at the same time.
IMO, of course.
@author: A lot of people use "COGAWA" or some variant, but you're right that the domain name leaves out the "a". Even if COGWA (or COGwa) doesn't become the "official" initials, it is invariably the one people are going to gravitate to for that reason.
🙂
