21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
~ Ep 4:21-24
Yeah, OK, so the above is a little out of context here. It strikes me that everything in this world will one day fade away, and it will take all of the physical creatures, all the blogs and books and musical instruments with it.
There comes a time to clean house, and there comes a time to demolish and rebuild. After years of writing, several moves and such, the blog had dead links as pages died, were moved or archived somewhere. Users that came to express an opinion during the UCG crisis stopped commenting. Finally, the user database was corrupted, causing issues with some logins.
We are supposed to examine ourselves once a year and eventually become a new creature. Nothing comes out of this world permanent except the character of a few chosen. What was I trying to save by taking the time to fix a broken database? Was it supposed to be some sort of permanent memorial of one persons’ thoughts? Is there a better use of my time? Was it simply time to start over and rebuild?
I have spent a lot of time in my life rebuilding. Soon, on a more physical level, I will be moving and starting over again. It seems that is what God wants me to do, and so it seems fitting that this blog, a record of a spiritual journey, start over again as well.
I hope you will consider having a links list page. I found the previous one helpful.
Since this is a do-over, I’m considering all requests. 🙂
More seriously, yes, that is a good one to recreate, and even I have relied upon it from time to time rather than my poorly maintained browser bookmarks. I verified it is in the old SQL dump, but I believe it is also in the XML export, so it should be easy enough to do tomorrow if I have the time.
