One thing I put on my list of things I like about the Feast was hope.
Hope is the opposite of despair. Evil brings despair.
Before the Feast of Tabernacles was an MSNBC.com article about ”3 children found shot dead after custody battle”. A divorced man was afraid of losing all visitation rights, so he killed his 3 children and attempted suicide.
What could drive a man to do such a thing? What emptiness and hopelessness causes such despair.
This world has been referred to as a world held captive. It is held captive by the ultimate hostage taker. It is held in the grips of the ultimate terrorist.
Jesus came to set free the captives. Jesus came to bring us out of spiritual Egypt, where the tyrant oppresses day and night. He came to break the bonds of bondage. However, right now there are only a few who have been set free.
The Millennium, however, will be a time when the earth will be set free. All of the physical human beings who are left alive after the carnage of the Great Tribulation will at last taste freedom.
Human carnal nature will still exist, but it will be much more manageable. It will be the beginning of the end of evil.
